Cultural and Recreational Activities

The regional culture center in Lyngdal features a public library with study facilities, as well as two state-of-the-art auditoriums as venue for concerts, theater performances and the local movie-theater, plus banquet rooms and a restaurant. We also offer three sports arenas where sporting events, shows, conventions and concerts are held.

 

 

 

Our community offers a variety of sports-, cultural-, arts, and crafts- activities for people of all ages. We have over 200 associations and organizations of various kinds. The youth club accepts kids from grade seven and up. There is also a music-workshop in the area.

Our ocean side beaches and fresh water lakes provide ample opportunities for swimming. You may find a variety of nature trails leading to hunting and fishing areas as well. You find cross country skiing- and alpine skiing facilities only an hour away.

It’s been called “The Nordic Countries’ finest indoor water park and fitness center” – Sørlandsbadet – and features a sports- and recreational- pool, family-pool-area, teen department, health and wellness center, training and exercise area and lounge service.

Major annual events include: Summer Dance at The Town Hall Park, Lyngdal Cup – soccer tournament for children - Lyngdal Cup, Lyngdal’s annual farm fair - Dyrskuet.
Lyngdal received an award in 2005 that named it the cultural municipality of Vest Agder County.
