Our combination of municipal- and private kindergartens and private day care arrangements, provide near-full child care coverage. Our after school programs are comprehensive.

We offer four municipal elementary schools and two municipal secondary schools. We also have a culture school program focusing on drawing, painting, music, and drama.

Lyngdal municipality offer both private and public kindergarten facilities. The Lyngdal Municipality is the proprietor of three kindergarten facilities, “Lyngtua barnehage”, “Nygård barnehage,” and "Bergeheim barnehage", and we also provide “Åpen barnehage” [The open kindergarten], a service for children not enrolled in a kindergarten.

Kindergarten application form
In Lyngdal municipality, kindergarten enrollment is united into one application process regardless of whether you prefer private or municipal kindergarten service. Application deadline is 01 March. Beginning in 2010, there will be no paper-filing. The entire process will be completed over the internet. For that reason, this year all applicants who wish to be considered must file an application, regardless of whether you applied the year before or not. OWNERSHIP
The municipal kindergartens is owned and operated by Lyngdal municipality.

The kindergartens are to be operated in accordance with Act no. 64 of June 2005 relating to kindergartens, the Framework Plan for the Content and Tasks of Kindergartens, any current regulation and guideline from the Ministry of Education, as well as what municipal provisions may apply. Hovedutvalg for oppvekst (HOPP) [an executive board on childhood development] is the governing body in charge at the municipal level.
